Our Thai companion Tanya likes more the evening and nightime for a nice dinner, some drinks, dance or walk on the beach. She does not want to be exposed to direct sunlight and heat, but relaxing on the beach in the shadow is okay.
Tanya unfortunately lost her car in the 2025 floods. However, she does have a driver's license, so you can rent a car for 1000-1500 THB per day.

I spent five days and nights with Tanya at the end of April. She is very attractive, speaks pretty good English (8/10), and she is a good driver. She does not own a car, but she can arrange hire.
She took me to some nice places over the five days, but unless they were markets or restaurants, Tanya would always just wait for me in the car.
I hoped for a warm and friendly companion – a girlfriend – but she had little interest in me, and did not want conversations. She spent a LOT of time on her phone, talking with her friends (in Thai). We also went out to meet a few of them in person, and though they could also speak English, and I asked for English so I could join the conversation, this was mostly ignored. I spent a lot of time being ignored.
Her attitude was occasionally friendly, but more commonly snappish and negative.
In the car, Tanya would sometimes put her hand on my knee. That was nice. But that was close to the limit for romance. She even got angry at me for looking at her.
Tanya is a capable organiser, but may not keep you informed as her plans evolve. I was often surprised to be going to unexpected places. I was forced to make expensive changes to my flight bookings because of her decisions.
Perhaps there are men for whom Tanya would be a delightful companion. She wasn’t for me. My time with her was expensive and frustrating.

thanks for the helpful feedback. Tanya is generally not recommended when there’s a large age gap of > 25 years — we should have let you know that earlier.
We usually suggest switching companions by the 2nd day at the latest if it doesn’t feel like a good match. From experience, things rarely improve after that and it often just leads to frustration, as you mentioned.
About Thai culture: it’s not always seen as necessary or expected to switch languages if someone at the table doesn’t understand Thai.
In this respect, Thai culture is not as democratic as Western culture. Thais don’t overthink situations, which is also a good habit.
In group settings, people usually just stick to the language spoken by the majority.

I just wanted to say by the way that Tanya is perfect. I enjoyed our time together. She is beautiful inside and out and very sweet. We had a couple of really nice days together and for many reasons she was a perfect match for me and my first couple days ever here in Thailand and by the way, first time for me doing anything like this.
